Are EU-US relations entering a phase of temporary tension, or is this the beginning of a transformation?
The first roundtable in the EU&U Compass: Policy Slices series is fresh out of the oven, and we're serving it up in partnership with the Young European Federalists (JEF Europe) and the Union of European Federalists (UEF).
For decades, the partnership between Europe and the United States has been one of the world's strongest political, economic, and security alliances. Yet, since the start of Donald Trump's second presidency, the relationship has come under growing strain.
From trade disputes and economic tensions to unilateral foreign policy decisions with major consequences for Europe, recent developments have exposed the continent's continued dependence on the United States in areas such as security and global stability.
Calls for greater strategic autonomy are growing louder, but political leaders remain divided on what Europe's future relationship with the United States should look like.
After outlining its vision for the future of Europe in the EU&U Compass, EU&U is now inviting policy experts, civil society representatives, decision-makers, civil servants, and young Europeans to the Policy Slices roundtables to explore key policy challenges in greater depth, slice by slice.
This July, we'll be joined by:
Samuel Dempsey, Defence Editor, The European Correspondent
Maria Martisiute, Policy Analyst on Defence, Security & Foreign Affairs, European Policy Centre
Tanja Gohlert, Office Manager, Eurodesk Brussels Link & Founder, W100BXL and Indivisible Belgium
Hunter Christian Christopher, Counsel, Democrats Abroad Belgium & Political Content Creator
Policy Slices is designed as an interactive roundtable, not a traditional panel discussion. You'll have the opportunity to engage directly with experts and fellow participants, ask questions, challenge ideas, and share your own perspectives. And, naturally, there will be a few pizza slices for us to share while doing so.
To keep the discussion participatory and engaging, seats are intentionally limited. Register now to secure your place. Registrations may close early once capacity is reached.
